Biography
For more than 25 years, Valentino DiGiorgio has advised and counseled financial institutions, not-for profit entities, commercial borrowers, local governments, real estate developers, and a variety of large and small businesses. He began his career as a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, evaluating the financial statements, management and liquidity of FDIC insured banks.
Mr. DiGiorgio received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Temple University. After graduating Villanova Law School in 1994, he served as assistant counsel to the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and then as a lawyer in the Pennsylvania Senate before joining Stradley Ronon where he practiced law for over 20 years. He has also served as solicitor to Uwchlan Township Industrial Development Authority and Bethlehem Revitalization and Improvement Authority.
In private practice, Valentino represented banks and other financial institutions in connection with state and federal regulatory compliance and documenting and closing commercial loans to commercial borrowers and not for profit entities. Later, Valentino went on to represent state and local governments, investment banks and 501(c)(3) entities as bond counsel, borrower counsel, lender’s counsel, and underwriter’s counsel for private and public financings in an aggregate amount in excess of $4 billion.
More recently, as Corporate & General Counsel to two national restaurant chains and their parent entities, Valentino oversaw a variety of complex corporate, M&A, restructuring, real estate and employment matters, helping to lead those organizations during the pandemic and related economic challenges.
As a result, Valentino understands and has managed a variety of issues facing business owners, especially in these challenges times, including:
- Labor and employment matters
- Capital raising and finance
- Intellectual property matters
- Contract negotiation and review
- Real estate acquisition and leasing
- Corporate governance
Valentino recognizes the importance of community and public service. He was elected to and served two terms as the Chester County Controller where he was responsible for the overseeing the county’s finances, payroll and pension.
Mr. DiGiorgio has been recognized for his accomplishments by numerous and varied organizations including:
- Recognized as a distinguished 2018 Italian-American by local chapter of Sons of Italy Organization
- Recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s 2017 “Power 100” by City and State
- Featured panelist on television newscast “Inside Story”
- Recognized as “Republican of the Year” by the Pennsylvania Young Republicans, 2017
- Counsel to Governor Elect Tom Corbett 2011 Transition Team
- Authored numerous publications on Banking and Public Finance Law
- Recognized as one of “50 Lawyers Under 40 – Lawyers on the Fast Track” by Philadelphia Legal Intelligencer, 2002
A community minded servant, Val has served on a number of volunteer, civic and nonprofit boards, as well as supporting his local community. A philanthropist at heart, Val and his wife, Carolina, recently established the Val DiGiorgio Family Scholarship Fund recognizing students across the region for their focus on STEAM as well as recognizing military families and their service.
Mr. DiGiorgio is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Trial and Appellate Courts.
