Starting tonight – June 7, 2019 – the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will be conducting a full week of roving DUI patrols. Six different township police departments make up this DUI Taskforce:  Haverford, Marple, Newtown, Radnor, Springfield and Upper Darby.

Since 2009 the Northern Delco DUI Taskforce has conducted close to 100 patrol operations and is responsible for arresting over 150 drivers forDUI and issuing almost 1,000 motor vehicle code citations.

If you are stopped by one of these roving DUI patrols / sobriety checkpoints, you should contact Omnis Law Group, LLC immediately. Just last week the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that multi-jurisdictional checkpoints are unlawful unless all municipalities pass a local ordinance permitting them. In the past, police departments relied on the Municipal Police Jurisdiction Act (MPJA) to justify inter-agency cooperation. They can no longer do this. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled that the MPJA only applies to crimes in progress, not to investigations like sobriety checkpoints.
